Dorothy Davis aka Dot Booth (1928-2023) lived much of her life in Winter Park, FL with her husband Clay Davis. Winner of more than 200 awards and honors in competitive art shows and fairs, Dot Booth worked in a variety of media. As a painter she worked in acrylics and oils. She was also a printmaker, working in serigraphs.
"Whether I'm painting, drawing or working on serigraphs, I find satisfaction in all three parts of the art process -the conception, the crafting and the feeling when an art work is completed."
Booth attended the universities of Alabama and South Florida. She is listed in "Who's Who in American Art". Her awards include the top award at the Society of the Four Arts National Painting and Drawing Show in Palm Beach, FL; the top award in the Frontal Images National Exhibit in Jackson, MI; best of show at the Gasparilla Art Festival in Tampa, FL; first place in the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival Winter Park, FL; and first place in the Virginia Beach Art Festival Virginia Beach, VA.
She participated in a number of one-person and group exhibits, including the Mint Museum, Charlotte, NC; the Birmingham Museum of Art, Birmingham, AL; and Rollins College Winter Park, FL.
Her work is included in several municipal collections, as well as the Standard Oil Company collection in Chicago, IL; museums in Macon and Columbus, GA; and the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson, MI.
Booth was featured in a video for public television in Orange County, FL, entitled "Dot Booth, Hard-edge Realism." She also served as visiting artist in Alabama schools under the sponsorship of the National Endowment for the Arts and the Alabama Council on the Arts.
